Abstract

  • In May 2024, international visitor arrivals in Indonesia were 1.15 million. International visitors increased by 7.36 percent compared with April 2024 (month-to-month) and 20.11 percent compared with May 2023 (year-on-year). International visitor arrivals in May 2024 were dominated by Malaysian (17.47 percent), Australian (11.98 percent), and Singaporean (9.69 percent).
  • Cumulatively, international visitor arrivals from January to May 2024 increased by 23.78 percent compared with the same period in 2023. This increase was mainly recorded at Ngurah Rai Airport-Bali and Soekarno Hatta Airport-Banten, which increased by 27.74 percent and 35.53 percent, respectively. 
  • In May 2024, the number of outbound trips was 626.67 thousand trips. It decreased by 17.14 percent compared with April 2024 (month-to-month), but increased by 5.63 percent compared with the same month in the previous year (year-on-year). Malaysia became the leading destination country for outbound trips (35.64 percent), followed by Singapore (15.24 percent), Saudi Arabia (7.85 percent), and Thailand (6.13 percent).
  • The room occupancy rate (ROR) of star hotels in May 2024 was 54.03 percent, which increased by 5.01 percentage points compared with May 2023 (year-on-year) and 6.89 percentage points compared with the previous month (month-to-month). Meanwhile, the room occupancy rate of non-star hotels was 27.11 percent, which increased by 2.87 percentage points compared with May 2023 (year-on-year) and 0.90 percentage points compared with the previous month (month-to-month). The average length of stay at star hotels in May 2024 was 1.62 nights, the same as in May 2023.
