Abstract

The year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation rate in July 2024 was 2.13 percent, with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 106.09. The highest inflation by province was in Papua Pegunungan Province at 5.09 percent with a CPI of 110.80. The lowest was in Kepulauan Bangka Belitung Province at 0.84 percent, with a CPI of 103.54. The highest inflation by regency/city was seen in Minahasa Selatan Regency at 6.68 percent with a CPI of 108.77, while the lowest was seen in Bangka Barat Regency at 0.46 percent with a CPI of 101.63. On the other hand, Timor Tengah Selatan Regency had the highest deflation by regency/city at 1.25 percent with a CPI of 104.06, while Tanjung Pandan had the lowest deflation by 0.22 percent with a CPI of 104.77.
Inflation occurred as the prices went up, as indicated by the increase in most expenditure groups indices, namely: Food, Beverages, and Tobacco Group of 3.66 percent; Clothing and Footwear Group of 0.99 percent; Housing, Water, Electricity, and Household Fuel Group of 0.50 percent; Furnishings, Household Equipment, and Routine Household Maintenance Group of 1.05 percent; Health Group of 1.77 percent; Transport Group of 1.22 percent; Recreation, Sport, and Culture Group of 1.49 percent; Education Group of 1.90 percent; Food and Beverage Serving Services/Restaurant Group of 2.28 percent; and Personal Care and Other Services Group of 5.59 percent. Meanwhile, Information, Communication, and Financial Services Group recorded a deflation of 0.16 percent.
The month-to-month (m-to-m) deflation rate in July 2024 was 0.18 percent, and the year-to-date (y-to-d) inflation rate in July 2024 was 0.89 percent.
For the Core Component, the y-on-y inflation rate in July 2024 was 1.95 percent, the m-to-m inflation rate was 0.18 percent, and the y-to-d inflation rate was 1.32 percent.
